Trick or Treat?

Halloween was a blast this year. It's always more fun when you dress up. FYI - next year EVERYONE has to dress up if you want to eat (: I was a go-go dancer (I bought the metallic leggings at Target in the Juniors section. I can't believe girls actually wear those! They have them in gold too), Jeff was a troll? He thought the mask was the coolest thing ever, Grace was an East High cheerleader, Cade was Prince Caspian from Narjnia, and Grant was the cutest puppy dog ever. He even learned how to howl like a dog.

I'm in Young Womens now (1st counselor), so I had to dress up for the Trunk-or-Treat at the ward. It's fun hanging out with my cute Miamaids. I've only been in a month, but I feel like they are my little sisters already. I am so impressed with the youth in our ward. They are incredibly strong and faithful. Much more than I was at their age. Keep it up girls!

Lone Peak Triathalon

A few weeks ago, Grace and Cade competed in the first annual Lone Peak triathalon. It was organized by our neighbor, Becky, the most amazing children's swimming teacher. The kids swam two lengths of the pool, then rode their bike around the neighborhood block twice, and capped it off running the block once. As the kids ran across the finish line, they were presented with a medal and water bottle, completed with the 'Lone Peak Triathalon' logo. It was a major accomplishment for them, and Becky made it lots of fun...thanks Beck! We're so glad we have great neighbors who plan such fun events!

Surgery

Grant had tubes put in his ears today. Jeff and I thought it was a breeze compared to Cade's surgery when he was 5 mo. but Grant didn't like it very much. I thought his little gown was so cute! They gave him a sedative before surgery that made him a little loopy. He was entertaining the nurses with his cute little chuckles. The surgery only took 10 minutes, and we were home soon after. Hopefully this will clear up his ear infections for good.

SUMMER FUN!!!

It's been a BUSY summer and it's only July 15th! I can't believe we have 6 more weeks until school. The kids have been having so much fun playing with their friends, swimming, and participating in summer camps. They both did a zoo class and Grace has been going to Summit Camp, while Cade does summer school with his buddies. Grant-man had his 1st birthday and the next week, got his mane cut off. It's now the shortest his hair has ever been. He looks like a big boy and it makes me kind of sad because he's my baby. Everyone thinks he looks just like Cade now. All the kids look like Jeff. We kind of have that cookie-cutter mold going on.

Grace celebrated the last week of school with Crazy Hair and PJ day. It was a nice change from the uniforms. The next picture of Cade looks like he's wearing a bikini, but really it's him wearing his Build-A-Bear jersey and basketball shorts. We still don't know how he got them on. He has to wear a jersey almost every day. I guess the other ones must have been in the wash! In the last picture, you can see how tired the kids get. Cade slept on the couch that night, and didn't wake up until 10 am even though the rest of us were having breakfast and making a lot of noise.

Last week we went to Las Vegas for Dad's birthday. I forgot how nice it was to feel warm! Then we came back to the snow. Grant was happy as usual and loved playing with all of Avarie's toys. Lucky for me, Jeff decided not to come, so I could get some shopping in. We found this new shopping center called Town Square. It was heaven for me...a brand new outdoor mall with every store you could want. I could have spent the whole weekend there!

Grace had her kindergarten program last week. Those kids worked so hard and knew a ton of songs. We were proud of her, and Grace is proud of the fact that she is the tallest in the class.
One of the songs they sang was "The sun'll come out tomorrow" from Annie. Grace had never seen that movie, so we rented it and watched it on the trip. Grace has always broken out in song whenever she feels like it. Her latest vocal choice is opera music. I know, lucky us! When I've asked her to clean her room, I usually hear the singing and realize she's looking at herself in the mirror rather than cleaning up. Girls will be girls.

I had to put the picture of Grant-man on. Cade has come up with most of his nicknames...Grant-man, Chico-boy (I don't know where he gets it), G-man, etc. Grant's favorite place to be is at the island counter with food in his mouth. He eats EVERYTHING! Some of his new favorites are bananas, chicken, and lunch meat. He does have to work on keeping his sumo wrestling figure. Prolonging crawling will help with that too. That's our exciting life. More to come...

Grant is growing so fast...he's already 9 months! Grandma took these pictures in her studio. We're spoiled by her nice camera. He is fat and happy, not crawling yet, but rolling around everywhere. Grant already has 7 teeth, which he flashes to anyone who will pay attention.

So, I know it's been awhile, but I'm finally posting. We've had a lot going on. A yearly highlight for the kids is the St. Patrick's day parade at The Gateway. This year we rode on the brand new fire engine. The biggest one in the state!

Cade's first stitches

A few weeks ago, Cade tripped over a pillow in the family room, and landed on a plastic baby block in the middle of his face. He had to get 2 stitches. It was a traumatic experience for him and me. I don't do well with blood, and of course Jeff was gone when it happened. Cade was happy to get a sucker out of it. We are all doing well now.


No one has been sick for about two weeks, so that's pretty good for us lately. Grant had been at the doctor's office several times earlier in the month with ear infections. After two courses of antibiotics, they have cleared up. He's finally sleeping through the night. Yippee!! Grant has had a big month - he learned to roll from his back to his tummy, and he can sit up on his own. He loves eating baby food and holding his own bottle. Mom loves it too!

Birthdays/Christmas 2007

Welcome to our blog. We're now blogging with the rest of our friends and family. It's addicting to link from site to site and catch up on friends we haven't seen for awhile. Our family had a fabulous Christmas holiday! Grace, who turned 6 in November, is growing up so fast. She and Mom enjoyed the Nutcracker, our yearly tradition with Grandma Higgs. Grace wanted an ip0d from Santa, but Santa and Grandpa Higgs didn't think that would be such a great idea, so she got a cheaper mp3 player. She now has earbuds attached to her ears most times and can be heard belting a number from Hairspray or High School Musical most days. She is an enthusiastic, smart girl, and a great sister and friend. Cade, our middle child, turned 4 on New Year's Eve. We celebrated with a trip to the bowling ally with friends and family. There was at least one adult per child, which worked out really well. We told Cade that the whole world has a party for him on his birthday, and showed him the party on TV. He was pretty excited about that. Our baby, Grant, who turned 6 months on Christmas day was just happy to be there. Because he's the third kid, Santa brought him practical presents like clothes. Even with an ear infection coming on, he still had a great time and was as happy as ever! I also put some pictures from our San Diego vacation in November.
